"Probably the best show we’ve ever had at the lovely Rui Cunha Foundation gallery, with full house as the perfect closing of the 6th-year-partnership.”- Mars Siu Hong Lee, Chairman of Macau Jazz Promotion Association 11/2019

"The Chi Quartet executed these pieces with outstanding musicality and technical prowess.” UIC reporters: Samuel Burgess (MPRO), Robert Runnels (DCC) 11/2019

CHI Quartet is an international piano quartet based in Rotterdam. Formed by Macau/HK pianist and composer SIU, Tin-Chi, Greek bassist Yiannis Vagianos, Dutch chromatic harmonica player Armand van Wijck and drummer Django Buiting.

Dreamy piano ostinatos, delicate drum grooves in odd meters, the soothing timbres of double bass and chromatic harmonica: this is the vibrant and atmospheric sound of the Rotterdam based CHI Quartet. It all makes you feel as if you’re traveling through a large city during a peaceful sunset, which traces back to the roots of pianist Siu Tin Chi.

Chi was born and raised in Hong Kong and Macau. She graduated in classical music at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York, where she developed a special interest in jazz and film scores. Afterward, she continued to explore jazz, which led her to the conservatory of Rotterdam. The extended living in different metropolises with mixed cultures, the nature that surrounds Hong Kong and her classical background can be evidently heard in her modern compositions.
